Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
Saluto (“we”, “us”) provides an AI receptionist that answers customer messages on behalf of businesses. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Saluto is the data controller for the information described in this policy. For any privacy question, or to reach us in writing, email support@salutodesk.com or message us on WhatsApp at +961 76 696 093.
What we collect
From our customers (businesses): the name, work email, phone number, business name and industry you give us when you request a demo or become a customer, plus the configuration you provide — services, hours, pricing, policies and tone of voice.
From your end customers: the content of messages sent to your connected channels, the display name and channel identifier the platform gives us (for example a WhatsApp number or Instagram handle), and any details captured during the conversation such as an appointment time or delivery address.
Automatically: basic technical logs — timestamps, error traces and delivery status — needed to operate and debug the service.
Why we use it
To generate replies, check availability, book appointments, qualify enquiries and route conversations to your team.
To operate, secure, debug and improve the service.
To contact you about your demo, your account or a material change to the service.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your end customers’ conversations to train publicly available models.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR or comparable law applies, we rely on legitimate interests to operate the service and respond to enquiries, contract to deliver what a customer has signed up for, and consent where it is required — for example for marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time.
For messages from your end customers, you are the controller and we act as your processor. You are responsible for telling your customers that an AI assistant may answer them, and for having a lawful basis for those conversations.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us run Saluto — hosting, AI model providers, messaging platform APIs (Meta for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger) and email delivery — each bound by contract to protect it.
We may disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
If our business is transferred, data may transfer with it; we will tell you before that changes how your data is handled.
Messaging platform data
When a business connects WhatsApp Business, Instagram or Messenger, we receive the messages customers send to that business, the platform’s identifier for the sender, and any images, documents or other files attached. We use this data for one purpose: to display the conversation to the business and to generate and deliver replies on their behalf.
We do not use data obtained from Meta’s platforms for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it to build profiles beyond the conversation history the business needs to answer their own customers. We do not use it to train AI models.
A business can disconnect a channel at any time, which immediately erases the stored credentials for it. Deleting a business account deletes its conversations and attachments. See Data Deletion for how to request removal.
International transfers
Data may be processed outside your country, including in jurisdictions with different protections. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
We keep conversation data for as long as your account is active, and then for the period our customer agreement specifies. Demo enquiries are kept for up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Backups are cycled out on a rolling basis.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, to receive a portable copy, and to complain to your data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email support@salutodesk.com. If your data reached us through a business using Saluto, we will point you to them as the controller and support them in responding.
Security
Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to the people who need it. See our security page for detail.
Children
Saluto is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date below. Material changes will be communicated to active customers directly.
